Rob Buthelezi is a highly accomplished quantity surveyor with a diverse background in the property development and construction industry. He began his career at NBS Devco, the property development division of NBS Bank, where he gained valuable experience in the field.
Rob then joined Nedcor Investment Bank as an Asset Manager, where he focused on revitalizing non-performing assets through involuntary investments.
With a passion for project management and a specialization in affordable housing projects and large mining housing developments, Rob joined Group Five Construction. During his tenure there, he successfully managed numerous projects throughout South Africa, contributing to the development of affordable housing solutions and making a significant impact in the mining sector.
In the year 2000, Rob embarked on a new venture and founded RB Property Group, his own property business. Under his leadership, RB Property Group became a prominent player in the industry, offering a range of services including property consulting, sales, and development. The company quickly gained recognition and was entrusted with several significant assignments.
RB Property Group’s notable achievements include being appointed as the Strategic Asset Management Partner by Public Works, serving as a transaction advisor to Transnet for the monumental R7 billion sale of the V&N Waterfront, the largest property sale transaction in South Africa at the time. Additionally, the company was selected as the facilities management company for one of the first shopping centers in Soweto, the largest black township in South Africa with a population of over 2 million.
Expanding beyond South Africa, RB Property Group has been engaged by Unisa to develop a comprehensive property strategy document. The company has also taken on key roles in international projects, serving as the Development Manager for a mixed-use development and transaction advisor in Botswana, as well as a turnkey developer for a hospital development in Kenya.
Thanks to their expertise and track record, RB Property Group has successfully secured various projects for mixed-use development, student accommodation, and retirement villages.
