JOINT PRESS RELEASE:
Transformative Partnership launched to empower previously disadvantaged real estate firms and youth learners

Wednesday, 06 March 2024: Eskom, Claremart, Property Sector Charter Council (PSCC), and Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA) have joined forces to launch a ground-breaking partnership for previously disadvantaged real estate firms and youth learners.

This collaborative initiative aims to utilise Eskom’s retired non-core properties to create opportunities for previously disadvantaged real estate firms and empower youth learners, ultimately driving transformation and growth in the property sector.

The Eskom retired Non-Core Property Disposal Programme adds to a unique partnership between key  stakeholders committed to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and economic empowerment within the real estate industry.  By leveraging on Eskom’s surplus properties, the programme seeks to provide market access for real estate  firms, which will enable them to participate more actively in the property market and stimulate their growth.

Moreover, the programme will create avenues for youth learners to penetrate the real estate industry, offering them valuable opportunities for skills development, mentorship, and hands-on experience

Through the empowerment of young talent, the initiative aims to address critical skills shortages in the sector and contribute to job creation and socio-economic development.

The rollout of the programme is set to run for five years, with Phase One focusing on Gauteng,Limpopo,  and Mpumalanga provinces. Subsequent phases will gradually include other provinces while enhancing the  programme in the initial provinces, ensuring comprehensive coverage and an impactful outcome nationwide.  In addition, the programme aims to create a sustainable model for future property disposal and skills development.

By offering training programmes, workshops, and educational initiatives focused on selling properties, the programme will use advanced technology to drive sales, and related skills, which will enhance the capabilities of individual property practitioners.

The launch of the partnership marks a significant milestone in the journey towards a more inclusive and  equitable real estate industry. Through collaborative efforts and shared commitment, the partners are poised to drive positive change and shape the future of the property sector.
